Deactivating the Cowardly Steircrow

As part of a weekend celebration surrounding the final regular-season games at Busch Stadium, prodigal son Mark McGwire returned to St. Louis for the first time since his embarrassing "Steroids is bad" House committee testimony last March. Media access was severely limited. Fox Sports Network Midwest, which broadcasts Cardinals games, declined an interview because questions about steroids were put off limits. One good question might have been, "Mark: Why haven't you fulfilled your vow to become a national spokesperson and to redirect your charitable foundation to support anti-steroids programs?" Some also believe McGwire attempted to deflect the boo birds by carrying his young son with him on to the field. "I've moved on from it," he said. "The media should move on from it."
