A Link Between Bike Sales and Gas Prices?

This article claims rising gas prices are prompting more people to hop on a bike for their commute to work. Sounds nice for the college professor wearing a backpack and select others, but I don't believe most people's living patterns make that practical or even doable. Me? It's going to be tough to navigate my bike down the steps to my basement office, but I'll give it a shot.
